Real Wedding: Jenny & Johnny

I am so excited to share this wonderful rock'n'roll wedding with you today, shot by the uber talented photographer Jill DeVries. I asked her to share what she loved about shooting this wedding, favorite elements etc, and here is what she had to say:

I loved so much about this wedding! It was really an honor to shoot. Every aspect was not only DIY (all the decor, invites, art, etc), it was also just a perfect reflection of Johnny & Jenny. They are laid back and fun -- they ran around town hanging up Mr. T posters on their first date :) They are creative and stylish -- Jenny is a hair stylist and Johnny runs a tattoo shop and ink company, plus both of them are talented artists. You can see these parts of their personality shine through in the wedding and its details.

I loved that they just did what was them, what they wanted to do, even if it was different or risky. The flower girl was beautiful, the ring ninja was AWESOME!

The location was really fun and so unique. The vows were creative and unique and meaningful (I wrote a little bit about those on my blog).

Jenny had a gorgeous vintage dress, and all the girls got to pick their own black dresses. Really, it was exactly what a wedding should be: a celebration of their love and their commitment, a reflection of their personalities, and a big party for the awesome community of friends and family who have supported and loved them.

Jenny and Johnny were married in Rosa Parks Circle, a public space in the heart of downtown grand rapids.

Guests signed an original piece of art; profiles of the couple created by johnny.

One of Jill's favorite elements of the wedding was that their vows were written on the spot by guests in attendance. Guests shouted out different important elements of a marriage, which were then woven together into the promises they made to each other.

Thanks, Jill for all the beautiful images, and congrats to Jenny and Johnny! Live long and prosper. For more pictures of this wedding check out Jill's blog, and Jenny & Johnny's slide show.
